Actor Jimmy Akingbola was among the attendees for the first ever BBC 999 Awards.

The Holby City star was present at this week’s televised ceremony, recognising the work of the UK’s emergency services. Playing a doctor in the hospital drama, Jimmy is provided with a strengthened perspective of appreciation for those who work beyond the call of duty for real.
